  1. 1) Design toys are super popular and trendy right now, but mainly for display since there's not much you can do with it other than collecting a series. Could be more fun if your designer toy has an interactive feature.

    2) The main problem with this is that you'd need a magnetic surface in order to get the true experience of the toy. However, I really do like the idea of being able to create something with simple existing pieces (as do a lot of creative minds!). I think the aesthetic you have in your rough may be a little too childish for the target audience, as most OCAD students are into more edgier design. Also getting the pieces to cohere smoothly to each other may need to be considered.

    3) This certainly has potential. You might want to consider changing up the actual "grid" of the game as well. Characters may need to be simplified, since what I like about the original Connect Four game is that it's a very simple straight forward game. Have the design reflect that?

    4) I personally love any sort of DIY toys so the draw-on plushies would appeal to me. You might want to consider adding a kit as a side thing where you can customize/sew your own accessories. I also think making the characters less common (than the boy and girl) and into an original character would be a more interesting surface to draw on.

    5) The "fun factor" isn't really in the toy, but in the game itself, and the X's and O's game can get a boring after a couple rounds. Consider other pen and paper games to redo that involve more steps and thinking.
